September may announce the end of the summer holidays but there is usually plenty of warm, sunny days left to enjoy some of the biking events coming up this month. Here are our top 6 events that we wouldn’t want to miss!
1. British Superbikes , Donington Park – 6th/7th/8th September: Round 9 of the British Superbike championship takes place at Donington park this weekend. It’s a fantastic series and the title fight is wide open at the moment. You could make a weekend of it – there are plenty of places locally to stay and there is loads to see at the track all weekend.
2. Carole Nash Eurojumble, Netley Marsh, Southampton – 6th/7th September: This event has been taking place for 20 years and just keeps getting bigger and better. It is well known for its diverse selection of bikes, parts and accessories for sale. This year there are 290 plots taken up by traders as well as bookings for club stands. If you need an elusive part to finish your restoration project then the chances are that you will find it here! Gates are open on both days from 9am to 5pm with advanced two day tickets priced at £13 and advanced one day adult tickets £6.50. There are camping facilities and you can camp for the whole weekend for £20.
3. The ‘Ally Pally’ London Motorcycle Show, Alexandra Palace, London – 7th/8th September: The Ally Pally Motorcycle show is a great favourite of most bikers. Now held in September the event includes a mix of new motorcycles, racing and performance bikes, custom and classic bike clubs and the retail village for all things bike! There will be DJ’s, live bands and entertainment all weekend. If you ride your bike to the event there will be exclusive motorbike parking in the Grove car park. There are limited spaces so make sure you get there early. Adult tickets are £11.25 in advance or £15 at the door.
4. BMF Tailend Show, East Of England Showground, Peterborough – 14th/15th September: The BMF end of season party is a weekend celebrating everything motorbike! There is loads to do and see including the World Stunt Competition where 30 of the world’s top stunt riders battle it out for supremacy. There are hundreds of trade stands, club stands and an indoor trade area. The Best In Show section includes prizes for best sportsbike, best custom, best classic/vintage and best 3 wheeler. If you are camping for the weekend there will be plenty to entertain you. Alvin Stardust will be headlining on the main stage on Saturday. There will be four other live bands on Friday night and 4 more live bands on the Saturday. The Bikers, Blues and Booze Bar is hosting 3 blues bands on Friday and 4 more on Saturday. Listen to some great music while trying some of the 30 real ales and 4 real ciders on offer!
5. The Freestyle Show, Leicester Speedway & Sports Pavilion – 14th September: If you like the Red Bull X Fighters you will love this! The main feature of this event is the freestyle motocross where top riders battle it out to perform the best stunt combinations. There is a special feature called the Stuntfest where riders perform stunts and tricks creating a unique showpiece to music and a DJ. Not to be missed! The support feature is Drift Racing where 4 riders race around the track for 4 laps in a fierce competition to be crowned the winner in the grand final at the end of the heats. Each event has lots of family entertainment from music, dj’s, bouncy castles, wheelie simulators and loads more. There will be a burger bar and fast food, indoor bar and seating, trackside bar, ice cream van and lots of free parking.
6. Festival Of Classic Japanese Motorcycles (Japfest), Haynes Motor Museum – 15th September: This is a brilliant opportunity to see up to 300 examples of classic and vintage Japanese motorcycles. Inside two large halls within the motor museum itself you can see all kinds of Japanese motorcycles from racers, tourers, trials, mopeds, drag bikes and many more. The admission price includes entry into the museum which houses over 400 cars and bikes from classics from the 50s and 60s to amazing supercars. It’s an interesting and exciting day out for the whole family.
