The 2011 Moto GP Champion is ready and raring to get the season started on his new 1000cc Honda Repsol RC213V hoping to hold his title for another year.
Casey Stoner is the two-time Moto GP World Champion and finished the 2011 season on an enormous 90 points clear of second place Jorge Lorenzo on his Honda Repsol bike. The 26 year old Australian has been riding in the Moto GP for 6 years and has managed to win on two occasions, once with Ducati in 2007 and again last year with Honda Repsol.
The 2012 season is yet to start but the initial results from the test sessions in Valencia and Malaysia have ended well for Honda riders with the two Honda Repsol motorcycles finishing in the top three on both occasions.
There have also been some significant changes to the rules surrounding Moto GP bikes and this has meant the Honda Repsol team have had to increase the weight of their bikes by 4KG. In an interview with motogp.com, Stoner mentioned how much of an effect this had on the handling of the bike and that it would take some time to perfect his performance.
2011 was a great year for Honda motorcycles with 5 of the top 10 riders and 2 of the top 3 riders riding for various Honda teams including Casey Stoner on his Honda Repsol. Stoner is back this season to hold on to his title and he is excited about the prospect of a fresh season of racing. With his wife very heavily pregnant and the new bikes still being perfected, this is set to be an exciting year for the current World Champion!
