Gearing up for Christmas

Well it’s that times of year again; the clocks have gone back, the days are getting shorter and it’s darker in both the mornings and evenings. Although many riders choose to put their bikes away for the colder months there are still some die-hard riders who will ride their bikes through thick and thin. So here are our top tips to allow you to continuing enjoying your bike through these colder and darker winter months whilst still keeping safe:

1.    Lights
Ensure your lights are in full working order before setting out for any ride. Ensure your lenses are clean and that you know your route well. In the dark those minor roads with little lighting can become a very hazardous trap for even the most experienced of bikers. Many retailers offer Honda motorcycle parts and spares so you can always make sure your bike is in full working order.

2.    Clothing
Clothing can make all the difference to your safety when riding. Not only does it protect you in the case of an accident, but it can also help prevent one in the first place. Reflective clothing will make you more visible to other road users, and light helmets or clothing items will also aid this.  The correct winter clothing will also reduce the cold you feel, as we all know being cold can greatly reduce your ability to concentrate so staying warm is imperative during winter riding, not too warm though.  It’s all about wearing the right layers.  We have an extensive range of winter clothing to help you on your way, including well known and trusted brands like Alpinestars.

3.    Tyres
As it gets colder is also gets wetter. Make sure your tyres have enough tread on them as this will mean that your breaking distance is not lengthened. Also ensure they are at the correct pressure as this allows the tyre to perform in the manner that it should.
