What is the Moto GP?

The MotoGP is the best motorcycling competition in the motorbike universe. It was established as a World Championship in 1949, which means it is 63 years young and the oldest motorcycling championship in the entire world.

What happens?

The race visits fourteen countries and is covered all over the world. There are eighteen races. These are highly popular and really showcase the awesomeness of motorcycling wizardry. Honda is one of the four key manufacturers whose Honda bikes are used in the races. The races are massively popular as well, with two million people coming to see them in 2010. Now that’s a good way to spend a weekend! The races fall on the Grand Prix weekend and are part of the festivities.

What’s occurring this year?

The current MotoGP champion is Jorge Lorenzo, who rode his way to victory in 2010.
The 2011 event will have the highest amount of British entrants for 22 years! Five of the riders have come directly through the Red Bull MotoGP academy proving to be excellent home grown talent. All eight UK entrants will be giving it their all.

Valentino Rossi, the nine-time world champion has also won a special award for his comeback and performance during the MotoGP in 2010.
